Break-Ins At 2 Rutgers Computer Labs; Items Stolen

A suspect described as a thin white man stole multiple items from separate locked computer labs, said Rutgers Police.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two different computer labs on the Rutgers Piscataway campus were broken into last weekend, and computers were stolen.

The most recent break-in was at the Rutgers Computing Research and Education Building, located at 96 Frelinghuysen Road in Piscataway, sometime between 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 and 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.

A suspect described as a thin white man stole multiple items of value from separate locked computer labs, said Rutgers Police.

He is described as having short blonde hair, approximately 25-30 years of age, measuring between 6'1" and 6'3" in height. He was wearing a blue surgical mask, pink hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans and nondescript sneakers during the break-in, so Rutgers Police have footage of him on security cameras.

Prior to this, someone broke into a computer lab in another building on the Piscataway campus, this time at the School of Engineering (98 Brett Road, Piscataway). That break-in took place sometime between 8:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8 and 11:14 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.

In that case, someone stole items of value from a locked computer lab. There were no signs of forced entry.

The description of the perpetrator in that incident is limited.

The Rutgers University Police Department asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact the RUPD’s Detective Bureau at 848-932-8025.
