Man Killed Christmas Eve Trying To Enter Parkway From Rt. 27 Ramp In Woodbridge
He was killed Christmas Eve afternoon on the Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge, after he tried to enter the Parkway from the Rt. 27 ramp.
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — An Elizabeth man was killed Christmas Eve afternoon on the Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge, after he tried to enter the Parkway from the Rt. 27 ramp.
This is the crash that caused delays on the Parkway northbound for hours on Christmas Eve afternoon, and brought traffic to a standstill for 10 miles.
The crash happened at 2:17 p.m. on the Garden State Parkway northbound: State Police say Li Wei Lin, 22, from Elizabeth, was trying to enter the Parkway from the Rt. 27 entrance ramp when he ran off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. Lin was driving a Honda passenger car, and was alone in the car.

After hitting the guardrail, the Honda continued entered the northbound lanes of the Parkway, but perpendicular to the flow of traffic. Margaret Quinn, 57, of Barnegat, NJ, was driving a Lexus SUV north on the Parkway and struck the Honda. Alan Tinquist, 74, of Beach Haven, NJ, driving a Ram pick-up truck, then rear-ended the Lexus.
After being hit, the Honda struck the concrete barrier. Lin was killed in the crash; Quinn sustained no injuries and Tinquist sustained minor injuries.
