An East Brunswick student is giving back to nurses in a heartfelt way, honoring the memory of a beloved family member who dedicated her life to caring for others.
Lily, a student at Hammarskjold Upper Middle School, is distributing thank-you gift bags to nurses at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The gesture is made in memory of Dorothy Anderson, a nurse who worked in Brooklyn, New York, and was known for her compassion and commitment to her patients. Dorothy Anderson was the sister of Linda Storace and the aunt of Stephanie Heluk, both East Brunswick residents. The gift bags, filled with assorted candies, each represent a special message of gratitude and encouragement for nurses, whom the family lovingly refers to as “angels on earth.Dorothy’s family are deeply grateful and touched that Lily has chosen to carry on this meaningful tribute, helping to keep Dorothy’s legacy alive while spreading kindness and appreciation to those who serve others every day. Lily feels honored to be a part of this tradition, which began in 2020 as a way to keep Dorothy’s spirit alive.
