City Council to Meet Wednesday

City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 5 for their scheduled meeting.
Among the items scheduled for discussion and voting is the appointment of two lawyers to represent Police Director Anthony Caputo and officer Christopher Bornheimer in a lawsuit entitled "Victor Rodriguez Vs. The City of New Brunswick Et Al."
Rodriguez was shot by officers on Jan. 31, 2011, after he reportedly fired a weapon on Seaman Street in the vicinity of bystanders near Remsen Avenue. He was then fired upon by officers on routine patrol.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office determined during the subsequent investigation that the replica 9mm Beretta contained blanks.

Caputo is to be represented by attorney Steven D. Altman, and Bornheimer is to be represented by attorney Lawrence Y. Bitterman, according to the agenda.
Both Altman and Bitterman are to be paid amounts not to exceed $1,000, according to the agenda.
The council will hear comments from the public during the meeting on both agenda items and concerns not on the agenda.
