1. A visiting University of Illinois at Chicago professor will present a lecture on the state of oil in the Middle East and water sharing at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the Rutgers Student Center on College Avenue. Admission is free.
2. Kids between the ages of 7-12 can come to the children's room at the New Brunswick Free Public Library at 4 p.m. today to get their own journal to decorate as they please. Call (732) 745-5108, ext. 16 to sign them up.
3. Come to Soupfest at the Salvation Army New Brunswick Corps, 287 Handy St., at 6 p.m. tonight to meet the new post officers and sample soup from area restaurants while benefiting the local chapter. Tickets are $20.
