Hub City Halloween Happenings

Family-friendly Halloween events are scheduled throughout the week.

Halloween is nearly here, and there are plenty of events scheduled throughout the area to celebrate! Here's a list of some happenings in New Brunswick and Highland Park. 

  • Come to the New Brunswick Free Public Library for Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) activities between the hours of 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Make paper flowers and sugar skulls and bring photos of deceased loved ones to place on an altar. 
  • Trunk or Treat at Lord Stirling Community School, starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Make sure to come in your Halloween costume. The event is free and open to all New Brunswick families. 
  • Halloween in Highland Park: Trick or treat on main street, enter a pumpkin in a carving contest, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, or watch free outdoor movies in the downtown. The festivities kick off at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31
  • The library, in cooperation with Lazos America Unida, will hold a Dia De Los Muertos celebration from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 featuring music and dance, an exhibit and artwork and traditional Mexican refreshments. 
  • Lustig Dance Theatre will present a colorful tribute to Dia De Los Muertos during "Luna Mexicana" to be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at George Street Playhouse. Tickets are $25, $22 for seniors and $15 for students.
