New Brunswick Roads: Parts Of Route 18 Remain Closed
The city of New Brunswick provided an update on road closures and home evacuations Friday after major flooding caused by Hurricane Ida.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The city of New Brunswick provided an update on road closures and home evacuations Friday afternoon after major flooding caused by Hurricane Ida.
Route 18 is closed in both directions from Paul Robeson Boulevard to the New Brunswick-Piscataway border.
Drivers who had to abandon their vehicles in the flooding are asked to go to the New Brunswick Police Department at 25 Kirkpatrick Street or call police at (732) 745-5200 for help finding their vehicle.

The city provided updates for some residents who were displaced by Wednesday's storm and the subsequent flooding:

Residents of Hiram Street and Riverside may return home and are asked to make sure their gas and electric services are working normally. These residents should contact their utility providers if they need service.
Residents of 12 Reed Street are asked to contact their property managers to see if they may return to their apartments.
Plaza Square and 29 Charles Street remain closed, as there is no electricity or gas. The city says if residents need to get into their homes for personal belongings, they should contact property management.
All other residents who were evacuated may return to their homes.
Additionally, if residents need to dispose of a large amount of storm waste, they should call the city department of public works at (732) 745-5104.
