New Brunswick Man Stabbed Another Inside Metuchen Home, Police Say

A woman in the home said he grabbed a knife from the dishwasher after getting into an argument with another man:

METUCHEN, NJ — Peter Fragoso, 29, of New Brunswick, is charged with first-degree attempted murder for stabbing another man inside a home in Metuchen on Dec. 3, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Metuchen Police Chief Arthur Flaherty.

The man he stabbed is 23 and from Long Branch, said police.

The dispute started after the Long Branch man showed up unannounced to a woman's home on Durham Avenue in Metuchen at 7:34 p.m. last Wednesday, according to the police report. The woman said the Long Branch man walked into her home unannounced, and that's when a verbal and physical argument broke out between him and Fragoso, who was inside her home at the time.

She said Fragoso grabbed a knife from the dishwasher and she did not see what happened next, but she did "see blood," read the police report.

The woman said she ran outside the home with her three children and called 911. She told police she saw the Long Branch man run from the home screaming in pain, and screaming "I'm dying!"

Metuchen Police found the Long Branch man suffering from multiple serious stab wounds. He was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and survived.

Fragoso was arrested the next day and charged with first-degree attempted murder, multiple weapons offenses and obstruction of justice.
