PISCATAWAY, NJ — New details are emerging after police say a 29-year-old man killed his mother and grandparents before being shot by police Monday in Piscataway.
The father of the man behind the gruesome killings called 911 Monday evening, telling Piscataway Police that his son, Jordan Barnes, was threatening to hurt his family members inside the home.
A source with the police department told Patch they had been previously called to the home, but "very" rarely.

When Piscataway Police officers arrived at the home on River Road at 5:30 p.m., they were not prepared for what they found.
Authorities Recount The Horrific Scene
According to authorities, police officers knocked on the front door, and one officer briefly spoke with Barnes through the closed door. Meanwhile, Officer John Ward looked through a window next to the front door and saw the bodies of two people lying unresponsive inside.

Officers opened the front door and were met with Barnes, holding a kitchen knife. The police commanded him to drop the knife and get on the ground; he did not comply and three police officers deployed their tasers, authorities said.
Despite being hit with the electric shock, Barnes continued to walk toward the officers, holding the knife. Ward fired his gun, striking Barnes and killing him.
Inside, Piscataway Police found the bodies of Barnes' mother, Jeanmarie Barnes, 60, and his grandparents, Richard Barnes, 86, and Brenda Barnes, 84. They had all been killed from multiple stab wounds. The scene inside the home was "horrific," said New Jersey State PBA President Peter Andreyev. All police officers who responded Monday night were evaluated by mental health professionals, he said.
No criminal charges have been filed in this case, as the accused is dead.
Who Was Jordan Barnes?
Barnes graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, and he had professional experience working in data software, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He was a member of the Rutgers crew team, his profile says. This Instagram account shows a photo of him with the Rutgers crew team.
Police found two knives near Barnes, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The fatal police shooting is being investigated by New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin, as required by law.
