Piscataway Man, 22, Convicted Of Sexually Assaulting 12-Year-Old Girl

The 12-year-old girl told police she met Lenic Galvan, then 19, through social media and went to his home, where he sexually assaulted her:

BOUND BROOK, NJ — A jury in Somerset County found a 22-year-old Piscataway man guilty of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

The man is Lenic Galvan, pictured above. He currently lives in Piscataway, but he used to live on Linden Avenue in Bound Brook, and that is where he sexually assaulted the child in 2021, said Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald in this press release.

He met the girl through social media, said the prosecutor. He was 19 at the time.

On July 25, 2021, the girl and her parents reported to the prosecutor that she had been sexually assaulted that night by an unknown man she met on social media.

Police did not say which app or website.

The 12-year-old girl was interviewed by Sean Fraser, a detective from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Special Victims Unit, and she told the detective she met an unknown man on social media and he arranged for transportation for her to his home, where he sexually assaulted her.

Galvan was arrested without incident in Bound Brook on July 26, 2022, after DNA results were taken. He was charged with first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, second-degree Sexual Assault by Contact and third-degree child endangerment.

Last Tuesday, May 14 ,a Somerset County jury convicted Galvan of second-degree Sexual Assault by Contact and third-degree child endangerment.

The case was investigated by Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office SVU Detective Sean Fraser and Bound Brook Police Captain Jason Gianotto and Detective Sergeant Gerard Flanagan. The Plainfield Police Department and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office assisted with locating the victim the night of the incident.

Galvan will be sentenced July 10 and is facing up to ten years in New Jersey State prison with 85 percent of the sentence to be served without eligibility for parole pursuant to the No Early Release Act. When he is released from prison, he also must register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and be on parole supervision for life.
