Rabid Fox Found on Cook Campus
The fox is the first rabid animal to be found in New Brunswick this year.

A rabid fox was recently found on Cook Campus at Rutgers University.
The lethargic, sick fox was discovered in a goat pen on Cook Campus, captured by a farm manager and euthanized by a Rutgers veterinarian, according to a press release from the Middlesex County Office of Health Services.
It was sent to the New Jersey Department of Health Laboratory, where it tested positive for rabies.

No human bites or exposure to the fox were reported, according to the release. The goats had been vaccinated against rabies and will be observed for 45 days.
The fox is the first rabid animal to be discovered in New Brunswick this year and the 14th in Middlesex County, according to the release.

The county urges sightings of animals displaying unusual or erratic behavior be reported to local animal control officers.
