Man Tries To Grope, Rob Rutgers Student In Woods Near Campus: Police

A Rutgers student said a man tried to kiss her and touch her intimate areas Sunday night in a wooded area off campus.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man tried to kiss and touch a Rutgers student's intimate areas Sunday night in a wooded area off campus, said Rutgers campus police.

The man also demanded items of value from her before running off, said police.

The incident happened at 10:56 p.m. on Sunday near a wooded area located between Route 18 and a private home on Newell Avenue in New Brunswick.

While it is not clear what the woman was doing in that area, she said she was approached by an unknown man who initiated unwanted physical contact by trying to kiss her and touch her near intimate areas.

In addition, he demanded items of value and then fled the scene without obtaining any property. No weapons were used, and the victim sustained a minor injury during the incident.

The suspect was described as a Caucasian man, 20-30 years of age, about 5-foot-5-inches in height with a medium build, a trimmed black beard, wearing a black bandanna-style head covering, black face mask, and white shirt.
