Veteran Actor Steve Guttenberg Takes Memoir To Stage In New Brunswick
Guttenberg, known for such films as "Three Men and a Baby" and "Police Academy," stars in "Tales from the Guttenberg Bible" through May 21.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Veteran actor Steve Guttenberg is taking audiences on a ride through his start in show business.
He recently debuted "Tales of the Guttenberg Bible" at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center's George Street Playhouse.
The play, which is based on his 2012 memoir, explores Guttenberg (playing himself) from age 17-28, just before his popularity exploded with a "Diner," "Police Academy" and "Three Men and a Baby."

"It's about being a Jewish movie actor," Guttenberg told Patch. "It's a story about career, ambition, innocence and kindness."
Four other actors shoulder the load, portraying 90 real-life "characters" from his past, including Tom Selleck, Paul Reiser and Kevin Bacon.

It runs until May 21, before ending to Long Island's North Fork in August.
Guttenberg's good friend, Hollywood producer Julian Schlossberg convinced him to transfer the book into a play. The show was delayed a few years as Guttenberg's father was ill before he would die in July 2022.
“He loved this idea,” Guttenberg said.
