David E. Owens Middle School Holds Student Council Elections

The following students were elected to office:  

• President                    Polo Itona
• Vice President            Max Piasevoli
• Secretary                   Hikaru Nakamura
• Spirit Coordinator       Veronica Jaochico

All candidates for Student Council campaigned with posters displayed in the halls and prepared speeches that were presented to the entire student body (over 500 students). Elections took place in homeroom with each student casting their ballot. 

Student Council is a very active organization at DEOMS. In addition to the officers, the Student Council is comprised of homeroom ambassadors. The officers and ambassadors meet monthly to plan fun events like dances and theme days, as well as events that support the community, such as organizing the collection of food for local food pantries, and collecting teddy bears for "Hugs for the Holidays" program.
