Man Grew 46 Marijuana Plants In His New Milford Home: Cops

Victor A. Collado, 48, had several marijuana plants in a climate-controlled room; he also had candies with marijuana wax, police said.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — A borough man was arrested and charged with running a marijuana manufacturing facility after police found 46 marijuana plants in his home Thursday, police said.

Victor A. Collado, 48, was arrested after police responded to his home after receiving a call that someone at the home was suicidal, said Detective Lt. Kevin Van Saders.

Police searched the home to try and find the person and found Collado in the basement and smelled raw marijuana there, Van Saders said.

Collado admitted smoking marijuana and showed them marijuana plants growing in his room, including some in a closet that was climate-controlled for growing the plants, Van Saders said

Police obtained a search warrant and together with the Bergen County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit searched the house.

Authorities found 46 marijuana plants of all different sizes, several packaged bags of marijuana, candies with marijuana wax, liquid THC, suspected cocaine, steroids, and materials used to grow and distributed marijuana, the lieutenant said.

Collado was also charged with distributing marijuana plants, distribution of marijuana over 1 ounce, and other drug possession and distribution charges. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail.
