The Berkeley Heights video, which is just one of a series of videos that New Jersey Transit is producing on "transit-friendly planning," showcases various elements of our downtown that makes us a "transit-friendly rural" place type, including: ability to park at the train station and walk to shops, restaurants, the Municipal Complex and library, and easy access to various towns and New York City for employment. The Transit-Friendly Planning Program of NJ Transit strengthens the link between public transit and communities served by NJ transit, and strives to promote equitable, economically resilient, and environmentally sustainable development that improves the quality of life for all New Jerseyans. The program provides local technical assistance and helps develop partnerships at all levels to better coordinate planning between NJ Transit and New Jersey communities.
