Car Crashes Into Pole Causes Road Closure, Outage

Springfield Avenue is closed in New Providence after a car crashed into a utility pole on Saturday morning.

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — A car that crashed into a utility pole on Saturday morning has caused a road closure in New Providence.

Springfield Avenue is closed between Clinton Avenue and Gales Drive until further notice for a car and pole crash, New Providence police reported around 8:50 a.m.

JCP&L is on scene awaiting Verizon for pole replacement. Access to the downtown should be made from South Street.

As a result fewer than 5 residents are without power with an restoration time of 10:30 a.m., according to JCP&L.
