Construction Underway At Untied Brewing In New Providence

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — Construction is underway at Untied Brewing Company, New Providence’s first and only craft brewery and tasting room. They are planning to open up at 140 Spring St., Unit C within the next 90-120 days subject to local approvals and state licensing.

Untied Brewing Company is a craft brewery, independently owned by New Providence locals husband and wife Matt and Kim Green and their cousin Mark Russo.

Untied Brewing Company plans to unveil a variety of craft beers and use the tasting room to cultivate a craft beer community and menu. Craft beers will be offered on premise via tap, in cans and growlers, and through special bottle releases that include hazy and hoppy IPAs, session ales and lagers, and special barrel aged and sour beers.

The New Providence Planning Board approved the plans for Untied Brewing at in June and in August they were granted their brewers notice.

In early September, New Providence approved the initial construction permits. After receiving construction permits, construction began and the work is progressing quickly and on schedule. Currently the team is installing plumbing, electric, new floors and bathrooms.

Once this foundation is in place, the manufacturing components will be put in place.

Scott Morrison, award winning craft brewer and owner of Gravity Ales, will be back to install the brewhouse, fermenters, and brite tank. Then the equipment will be put to use and the first batch of beer will be brewed.

“While the construction is well underway," Kim Green said, "We are working on finalizing and sourcing all of the interior design elements. Our goal is to make our space the place everyone wants to be – a gathering space that is contemporary, industrial, innovative, and inviting. We have a design concept, and have selected the paint colors, furniture, lighting, bar tops… it’s very exciting to start seeing the space come together!”

The tasting room will have full visibility into the production area. Here Untied’s staff and head brewer will offer educational tours covering the story behind Untied Brewing Company, the production process and the inspiration and profile characteristics of Untied’s craft beer creations.

Next steps include achieving a certificate of occupancy from New Providence. Directly after the state will come in for a final inspection and approve Untied Brewing to begin brewing and serving the public.
