District Allows Students To Participate in Marching Band and Fall Sport
Last Saturday, NPHS Sophomores and football team members Dan Patel and Brian Urness joined the Marching Band on the field in their football uniforms for the half-time show.

On Saturday, Sept. 17, the New Providence High School Marching Band and Football team began a new tradition that emphasizes one of many wonderful philosophies of education in New Providence.
Students who desire to participate in Marching Band and a Fall Sport are permitted to do so, provided they can manage all of the demands of both programs in addition to a rigorous educational program.
When existing in a small school, there has to be some understanding and cooperation amongst all programs to ensure a healthy population in those activities. It is the belief of the district that multiple participation and all-inclusiveness fosters more well-rounded students. Some would argue that this philosophy promotes mediocrity as students are not focusing their effort in a single endeavor, but spreading it over multiple activities with less excellence. This is not the norm around the state, but it is here in New Providence and the students in New Providence are quite special and unique.
