Here's How New Providence Students Did On Standardized Tests

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — The results are in! Check to see how the New Providence Public School District did on the renamed versions of the controversial PARCC exam, the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments.

Here are the results for the New Providence Public School District, divided into test category, grade level, percentage of students meeting expectations, and their test scores:

Algebra I

State rank: 84th, 83.3 percent of students met expectations, mean scale score: 780

Geometry

State rank: 45th, 61.5 percent of students met expectations, mean scale score: 758

Algebra II

State rank: 10th, 90 percent of students met expectations, mean scale score: 778

3rd grade math

State rank: 37th, 84.6 percent of students met expectations, mean scale score: 779

4th grade math

State rank: 59th, 78 percent of students met expectations, mean scale score: 773

5th grade math

State rank: 30th, 80.9 percent of students met expectations, mean scale score: 773

6th grade math

State rank: 20th, 77.6 percent of students met expectations, mean scale score: 769

7th grade math

State rank: 21st, 78.6 percent of students met expectations, mean scale score: 767

8th grade math

State rank: 18th, 72 percent of students met expectations, mean scale score: 767

3rd grade English

State rank: 51st, 78.6 percent of students met expectations, mean scale score: 779

The New Jersey Student Learning Assessment uses the same computer-based platform used for PARCC and draws on the same bank of test questions. Indeed, the NJSLA results in English and math are comparable to the previous years' PARCC results.

However, the biggest difference between this assessment and PARCC is that it's now approximately 25 percent shorter and the number of questions has been reduced.
