I-78 Ramp In Union County To Be Closed For 6 Weeks: NJDOT

Detours will be put in the place when the ramp closes on Wednesday morning, according to NJDOT.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — The I-78 eastbound ramp from Diamond Hill Road is scheduled to close for the next six weeks in Berkeley Heights.

The ramp will close starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. NJDOT said the closure is necessary for drainage work and other stormwater improvements.

Diamond Hill Road northbound to I-78 eastbound:

  • Drivers on Diamond Hill Road northbound wishing to take the ramp to I-78 eastbound will be directed to turn right onto Valley Road, which is before the ramp to I-78 eastbound
  • Turn left onto Glenside Avenue
  • Turn left to take the ramp to I-78 eastbound

Diamond Hill Road southbound to I-78 eastbound detour:

  • Drivers on Diamond Hill Road southbound wishing to take the ramp to I-78 eastbound will be directed to turn left onto McMane Avenue, which is before the ramp to I-78 eastbound
  • Turn left onto Glenside Avenue
  • Turn left to take the ramp to I-78 eastbound

The work is part of a $10.5 million state-funded maintenance project to improve drainage at various locations in eight counties throughout North Jersey.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
