Letter to the Editor: Vote 'Yes' to Open Space Referendum on Nov. 8
Vigilantes ask residents to vote yes to this referendum because they believe it will give council more flexibility to use money where it's most needed and will have the greatest impact.

To the Editor:
We are writing to encourage our fellow residents of New Providence to get out to vote on Nov. 8, and to vote YES to the Open Space Referendum on the ballot.
This is a win-win for all of us. Since 2004, all taxpayers in New Providence have been paying a small amount into an Open Space Fund. The money accumulated in this account is approximately $650,000. Currently, the Borough Council can only acquire new parcels of land for public use with this money. With the proposed referendum, the Borough Council would be able to use these funds not only to acquire open space as it may become available, but could also could use portions of the funds to improve or expand existing open spaces, which could include active and passive recreation facilities.
