May 2 @ 7:30 - 8:30 PM - Book Group (Adults)
The book group will discuss The Ghost Ship by Brian Hicks. Copies of the book will be available to pick up at the front desk in the preceding month. New members welcome.
*May 4 @ 10 - 11:30 AM - Soapmaking (Adults)
Hilda Bahner will teach melt-and-pour soapmaking and discuss the origins of soap. Make 2 or 3 bars of soap to take home. This free program was made possible by the Friends of the New Providence Memorial Library. Registration is required. Register online at https://register.communitypass.net/newprovidence
May 5 @ 3 - 4 PM - Concord Singers Concert (Adults)
The Concord Singers, a women’s community chorus, will perform their spring concert, Key, under the direction of Anna Lenti.
May 6 @ 7 - 8:30 PM - Knitting/Crocheting Group (Adults)
Drop by the Coddington room with a knitting, crocheting or other fiber art project to work on.
May 9 @ 2 pm- Drop in Craft: Make a Mother’s Day Card (Kids)
Join us at our weekly drop in craft session and make a special card for your mom!
*May 9 @ 4 - 6 PM - Teen & Tween Cooking or Crafting (Grades 5-12)
Voting is open for teens and tweens to choose whether they prefer crafting (making paper flowers) or cooking (mini no-bake cheesecakes). Teens & Tweens can keep their creations themselves or gift them to their moms for Mother’s Day. Registration is required. Register online at https://register.communitypass.net/newprovidence

Gene Pantalone speaks about the extraordinary life of prizefighter and World War II/ Korean War hero Lew Jenkins. Pantalone’s latest book is From Boxing Ring to Battlefield: the Life of War Hero Lew Jenkins, published by Rowman & Littlefield.

Calling all budding scientists and engineers! Snap circuits makes learning electronics easy and fun! come and put together various circuit boards.
May 14 @ 7 - 8 PM - RBdigital Magazines Demo (Adults)
Lisa Kurucz of RBdigital Magazines will demonstrate how to read the latest issues of dozens of popular magazines on your tablet or PC. RBdigital magazines is free with a New Providence library card.
May 19 @ 3 - 4 PM - Public Art in New Providence (Adults)
Sculptor Bob Hill will speak about his sculptures that have been installed by the Public Art committee around New Providence. Weather permitting, this event may include a walking tour across the street to borough hall.
May 20 @ 3:30 PM- Wii Gaming- Super Smash Bros (Gr. 4-6)
Kids in grades 4-6 are invited to drop by the Coddington room and compete in a smash tournament. Make sure you sign in when you arrive to ensure everyone gets a turn.

Bring some friends for a Wii gaming afternoon. We’ll have all of our Wii Sports games out for teens to play. Sign in for a slot when you arrive to ensure that everyone gets a turn.
May 28 @ 3:30 PM - LEGO Club (Kids)
Come build with us! Try the monthly challenge or build any creation you’d like!
*May 30 @ 3-4:30 PM - Build Your Summer Reading List (Teens Grades 6-12)
You know you have to read this summer for school, so might as well choose titles you'll enjoy! Come learn how to find your new favorites by using GoodReads, Novelist and other reading guides. Please register for this event on NP Community Pass.
Teen Study Space (Middle & High School Students)
Reserved space in the library for all teens who need a quiet place to read and work. Tables, chairs and wifi available. Come with a study group, help out a friend, or just get your own work done. Drop in & out as needed. No registration required.
