MusicFest: A Travel and Parking Guide

Plan your trip with these tips.

Tomorrow, Sept. 14, marks the start of the 2011 Union County Fair at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, featuring a full slate of carnival rides and attractions along with free MusicFest concerts each day until Sunday Sept. 18, headlined by international recording artist Blondie and featuring Neon Trees, Collective Soul, the Smithereens and many more.
 
The County Fair and MusicFest are open Wednesday and Thursday, 5-10 p.m.; Friday, 4 - 10 p.m., Saturday, 11 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday, noon - 8 p.m. Set times are posted,

 
Complete MusicFest stage schedules, instructions for entering the Harvest Contest, and show times for the Hell on Wheels BMX stunt riders and other attractions are available at ucmusicfest.org.
 
Onsite parking at Oak Ridge Park is available for free on Wednesday and Thursday only. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday there is a fee of $10 per car.
 
Free offsite parking with a free shuttle is available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nearby at the Union County Vo-Tech Schools campus, located at 1776 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains.
 
Local residents are encouraged to walk or bike to the park. A bike rack is located just outside the park entrance. For safety reasons, bikes are not permitted inside the park.
 
To help reduce traffic congestion on Oak Ridge Road, at 1040 Lake Avenue in Clark is available as an alternate pickup site. Oak Ridge Park is short walk from the deli.
 
For those taking mass transit, free shuttle buses leave from New Jersey Transit’s Rahway train station on Friday from 4 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. The last shuttle back to the train station each night will leave Oak Ridge Park after the final MusicFest act is finished.
