New Providence 10U Gold Wins Green Brook Baseball Tournament
Tournament got team rolling, as they won their next four straight league games, giving them nine straight wins, and winning 11 out of 12 games during July.

The New Providence 10U Gold baseball team went undefeated in the Central Jersey Baseball Tournament held in Green Brook, NJ July 11-15, and were crowned 10U tournament champions.
The New Providence team was dominant, rattling off five straight wins and outscoring their opponents 89-19. The team batted over .500 and had 10 different boys successfully head to the hill to pitch during the tournament.
The first game against Franklin was a tough fought battle, with New Providence coming out on top 9-6 with a come-from-behind win, largely due to the fine pitching of Jack Connor and Ryan Sherman. Jack Connor also went 3-3 at the dish, and Stanton Leuthner and Owen Kovacs each hit homeruns.

New Providence then swept a double header against Jamesburg and Green Brook, under very hot and humid conditions. Highlights in the first game included three strong innings of one-hit pitching by Jason Marcantuone, and a solid pitching and hitting performance by John Grill that included a triple. The second game included an amazing nine pitch, three strikeout inning of relief by Danny McCarron, two more innings of no-hit pitching by Brian Smith, and three hits delivered off the bats of both Jack Reilly and Richie Wawzycki.
Then, on an even hotter and more humid final day of the tournament, New Providence swept both games again. First, they beat a talented Warren team in the semi finals 15-6. Down 6-2 in the bottom of the third inning, Chris Kubas took the game over by hitting a tape measure home run to start an 8-run outburst by New Providence, and then Chris secured the victory by taking the mound and silencing the Warren bats over the final 3 innings. New Providence then faced the tough Bridgewater Panthers team in the finals, and won by a score of 18-4. Eight New Providence players had multiple hits that game, including Tucker Davidson's impressive 2-2, 2 RBI performance.
