NP Council Allocates $2.4M for Capital Improvement Projects

Ordinance also allows for issuance of $2.3M in bond anticipation notes to help fund 16 projects, which include new fire truck, reconfiguration of Lincoln Park, road paving.

Borough Council unanimously adopted an ordinance Tuesday night that will appropriate more than $2.4 million for capital improvements throughout the borough this year.

Borough Council allocated funds for capital improvement projects in the 2012 Municipal Budget, which was adopted at the end of March. The borough's down payment for all projects totals $122,075.

"What this does is it provides for capital improvements and appropriates $2,441,500 for that purpose and authorizes the issuance of $2,319,425 in bonds or notes," Council President Michael Gennaro said at the May 14 meeting, when the ordinance was formally introduced. "These will be bond anticipation notes and some of the major items in there [include] a fire truck for $891,000, other vehicles [for] $329,000, and computers and other equipment that we’re buying for the borough."
