New Providence Supports Statewide Drinking and Driving Crackdown
"Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over 2012 Statewide Crackdown," which will combat impaired driving, begins today and runs through Labor Day.

Drinking and driving never mix together.
That’s why the Borough of New Providence is supporting the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over 2012 Statewide Crackdown, which begins today and runs through Sept. 3, 2012.
According to a council resolution, impaired drivers on our nation’s roads kill someone every 30 minutes. That adds up to 50 people per day and nearly 18,000 people every year who are killed by impaired drivers.

In New Jersey alone, 25 percent of motor vehicle fatalities are alcohol related, according to the resolution. In particular, the summer months and the Labor Day holiday are typically times where social gatherings include alcohol.
So, the State of New Jersey, Division of Highway Traffic Safety is asking law enforcement agencies around the state to participate in this program. The enforcement crackdown will combat impaired driving, which will reduce impaired driving and save lives.
