Superintendent Miceli Co-Chairs Statewide Conference

The conference in late May, sponsored by NJASA and NJSBA, brought together school leaders who shared concern and valuable ideas with guest speakers and colleagues.

Dr. David M. Miceli, Superintendent for the New Providence School District, served as Co-Chair of the 30th Annual Spring Conference, sponsored by the New Jersey Association of School Administrators (NJASA) and the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) on May 21-23 in Atlantic City.

The Conference, under the official theme, “Meeting Challenges with Confidence,” brought together chief education officers, school leaders and school board members who shared concerns and valuable ideas with the guest speakers and numerous colleagues.

This year’s program included more than 50 sessions on subjects such as iPads in the Classroom, the Paradigm Shift – Accountability, Analytics and the Evolution of Education, and Saving Money in Special Education.

The second day’s Keynote Speaker, Preston Swincher, a Content Facilitator at the Center for Generational Kinetics and author of the popular What the Gen?! blog, received a standing ovation from the audience after his lecture.

“As one of our Keynote Speakers, Preston reached everyone with his generational research, life experiences, and recommendations," Miceli said. "The level of engagement in the audience was impressive, and the lessons learned can be applied to the workplace and with our own families."

Miceli and his colleague, Co-Conference Committee Chair Dr. C. Lauren Schoen, Chief Education Officer, Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District, worked diligently with the NJASA Spring Conference Committee to make a professional development opportunity available that focused on key topics directly related to the challenges of efficiently and effectively leading school districts during these challenging times.

Outstanding, intriguing and innovative best sum up the experiences of attendees at the NJASA/NJSBA 30th Annual Spring Conference.
