Wyckoff Girl Scout Goes for Gold with Arts Festival
The festival is set to take place on Friday, April 19, at 7 p.m. in the IHHS auditorium.

Selena Steinberg, of Wyckoff, is more than just a junior at Indian Hills High School. Steinberg has been involved with the local Girl Scouts for more than a decade and is looking to earn her Gold Award, the highest honor a girl scout can receive, on Friday evening.
The 17 year-old is running an arts festival for the Indian Hills Performing Arts Association. The event is titled “A Time to Shine” and is being held in the auditorium at Indian Hills High School.
“The reason I chose this project is because the arts are very a very important part of students’ lives,” said Steinberg. “Yet they continue to be the first to be cut from schools, including my own district. My project will address this issue and act as a celebration of the arts.”

Steinberg has a full arts program planned. Student artwork will be displayed in the lobby of the high school, and in the auditorium there will be a show consisting of singers, dancers, a band and instrumentalists, all of which are Indian Hills students.
“Not only will this project bring awareness to the arts, it will also boost the confidence of those performing because this may be their only chance to have their own solo or duet and have their moment in front of an audience,” added Steinberg.

The festival is set to take place on Friday, April 19, at 7 p.m. in the IHHS auditorium. Tickets cost $10 for general admission and $8 for senior citizens and will be available at the door. Revenue generated will cover the cost of running the event and any additional profit will be gifted back to the IHHS arts program.
