Oakland Mother's Club to Host 'Comedy Night for Cancer'

This is your chance to get dinner and a show locally all while supporting Oakland families affected by cancer.

Cancer can take a large toll on a family financially and to help out Oakland families that have been affected by cancaer, a local group is organizing an upcoming fundraiser.

The Mother’s Club of Oakland Presents “Comedy Night for Cancer,” on Friday, May 3 at the American Legion in Oakland.

“In 2007 Maura Garramone, a former president of the Oakland Mother’s Club, passed away. She had previously been diagnosed with breast cancer and we started holding this event the following year in her memory," said Sue Leegwater of the Oakland Mother's Club.

The Mother’s Club of Oakland is a non-profit organization founded to benefit the youth of Oakland by supporting recreational and community programs. The organization was founded in 1957.

Doors are set to open at 6:30 p.m. for a buffet catered by The Brownstone. Guests are allowed to bring their own beverage of choice.

The comedy show itself will begin at 8 p.m. and will feature two comedians from the Omni Pop Talent Group. Dinner and a comedy show will only cost you $45 and proceeds will go to benefit lives impacted by cancer.

"People can order tickets up to the event. All our proceeds go to the Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and to families in our community that have been affected by cancer," said Leegwater.
