• Judge sets January trial to determine winner of tied Oakland race (newjerseyglobe.com) — Oakland’s Borough Council race remains deadlocked, with a judge scheduling a January 12 trial to decide a tied contest between Councilman Kevin Slasinski and challenger Matthew Dumpert. The court will review three disputed mail-in ballots, all reportedly cast for Dumpert, which could ultimately determine who fills the contested council seat.
