The proposed bond ordinance would fund road improvements, dredging projects and more.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — A new nearly $6.2 million bond ordinance would fund a variety of projects in Ocean City including road improvements, flood mitigation and more.

The proposed ordinance will be up for a second reading and final vote at the May 7 City Council meeting.

It's part of the city's five-year capital plan that was introduced in February, according to CFO Frank Donato. Read more: New Airport Terminal, Playground In Ocean City's 5-Year Capital Plan

"The next step in that process, in order to get to actually putting the shovels in the ground for capital projects, is then to advance a bond ordinance to appropriate the funds for the capital projects," Donato said.

In this ordinance is $2.5 million for roads, drainage and flood mitigation projects, $1 million for lagoon dredging and $80,000 for beach mats, Donato said.
