Cape May Court House, NJ – Cape May County Technical School District (Cape Tech) leaders hosted community members, local business and industry partners, and district staff for the annual fall Advisory Board meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 13 to discuss the future of programming at the district.

The event brought together 93 like-minded individuals to strengthen collaboration between local businesses and advisory board members so Cape Tech can align best industry practices and trends with curriculum. Business partners, such as the Cape May County Office of Emergency Management, Cape May County Prosecutors Office, Atlantic Cape Community College, Stockton University, Shore Medical Center, Cooper University Healthcare, Cape May County Animal Shelter, 98.7 The Coast WCZT and many more, discussed technology advancements and new equipment in the industry, as well as available work-based learning opportunities or internships for Cape Tech students to gain valuable hands-on experience.

During the meeting, Cape Tech officials such as Superintendent Jamie Moscony, Principal Steven Vitiello and interim Director of Curriculum and Instruction Vanessa Strassner highlighted the benefits of joining the advisory board and the work-based learning opportunities that benefit both students and businesses. This event also showcased the newly opened conference space, which includes The Perch, a student-run restaurant, and a hotel.

Cape Tech’s culinary students showcased their baking skills by preparing an assortment of sweet treats for attendees. These were served just before the groups transitioned from the Conference Center to their respective advisory board sessions held in the classrooms where the students receive their training.

"The sessions are incredibly beneficial for our students and the future of Cape Tech,” said Moscony. “Advisory Board Members and industry partners sitting in one space, engaging in open dialogue, asking meaningful questions and sharing experience – leading to strategy that best fits the needs of our students and offer practical experience. These conversations provide us with a level of insight that goes beyond the classroom. It’s insight that can only come from being there in the field and experiencing the workforce firsthand.”
