Coast Guard Auxiliary Offers Boating Safety Courses

New classes start on five different dates.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 81, based in Ocean City, is inviting members of the public to take the About Boating Safety Course at St. Peter's United Methodist Church at Eighth Street and Central Avenue.

Classes run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are available on the following remaining dates: April 27, May 18, June 1, June 22 and Aug. 3. Cost is $50 per person, and lunch is provided. Parking is available in back of building and in the lot on left of building. 

A GPS for Mariners class also will be offered on May 18 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $25 per person.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is a national group of volunteers who assist the Coast Guard and offer boating safety services. Assistance to the Coast Guard includes boating inspections, surveying, patrols and assistance to other boaters in need.
