Letter to Editor: Thanks to Many From Food Cupboard Coordinator

To the Editor:

As coordinator of the Ocean City Ecumenical Council Community Food Cupboard, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to help at the Food Cupboard during these past two months.

Even in face of your own losses, you gave unselfishly of your time to help us efficiently assist those in need. We were able to service 1,430 families totaling 4,576 people that requested our help.

Now back at St. Peter’s, we will continue our mission to serve those in need throughout the year.

In addition, what a privilege it was to meet so many caring groups from out of state that held collections to meet the needs of our community and travel many miles to deliver the goods to our Food Cupboard. What an inspiration!!

Likewise, we were able to pass on to other communities who were affected by the storm and incurred losses. It is in these instances that we are reminded of the saying “ It takes a village to raise a child.”  This applies to our recent situation. It takes many caring people to assist those in need.

Thanks to our city for allowing us to use the Civic Center to continue our mission and to the volunteers who gave so unselfishly of their time. I sincerely hope I haven’t missed anyone; however, those who assisted us know what you did and please accept our sincere thanks.
