An electronic road sign along a New Jersey highway flashed a simple message for drivers Wednesday night.
"Poop."
The stooly signage appeared alongside U.S. Route 40 near Mays Landing, according to multiple reports, where vandals apparently gained access to the message board.

The portable variable message sign, or PVMS, was near a construction site and was supposed to be telling drivers to slow down. Instead, passing motorists saw the fecal flashes.
Steven Schapiro of the state's Department of Transportation said the road signs are managed by contractors doing the road work.

“NJDOT contacted the contractor this morning and directed them to remove the message as soon as we were notified of the vandalism,” he told the Press of Atlantic City. “The department reiterated to the contractor that the control boxes of all PVMS must be secured with a lock to prevent vandalism."
