Ocean City Library Talk To Feature Award Winning Author

A virtual talk with William Finnegan will be held Thursday. His book "Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life" won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Free Public Library will welcome author William Finnegan for a virtual talk and Q&A on Thursday at 7 p.m.

William Finnegan's “Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life” won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize and was one of the most praised nonfiction books of the year.

Finnegan will explore the background and stories behind the book, as well as the pleasures and pitfalls of memoir as a genre.

The library will welcome another author, Joyce Maynard, for a talk and book signing on Sunday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m. outside under the Library Tent at the 17th Street entrance, weather permitting.

Joyce Maynard, a New York Times bestselling author, will publish her tenth novel, Count the Ways this summer. Maynard is the author of nine previous novels and five books of nonfiction.

Her novels “To Die For” and “Labor Day” were both adapted for film. Books will be available for purchase on site by Sun Rose Words & Music.

Attendees should bring their own beach/camping chair if possible. Seating will be available to those who need it.
