Ocean City Masters Team Places at Head of Schuylkill

A team of local women takes fifth in their first race.

The Ocean City women's masters four made their debut race on Sunday, Oct. 27 at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia.

Coaches Zack Eberson, John Chester (Ocean City High School alumnus), Colin Stewart (Ocean City High School sophomore) and coxswains Jenna Saccoccio (Ocean City High School alumnus and junior at Richard Stockton College) and Maddie Szabo (Ocean City High School senior) trained with Maura McMahon-Primus, Sharon Szabo, Jennifer Bowman and Suze DiPietro all summer to prepare for their first race.  It was the first Ocean City masters boat to ever compete in this regatta, and the women took a fifth place.

The 2013 Head of the Schuylkill Regatta was held on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27. Hundreds of masters, veterans, adaptive and recreational athletes competed. More than 150 high schools and colleges were also there, hailing from Massachusetts to northern Virginia areas, with suburban Philadelphia and New Jersey schools notably represented. Again this year, the Regatta welcomed scholastic and masters crews from Europe.
