Name: Jennifer Dwyer
Age: 50
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Theater, specializing in Public Relations – Temple University
Occupation: Real Estate Agent
Experience:
For nearly 30 years, I’ve been deeply rooted in Ocean City as both a business owner and real estate professional. My husband and I have owned and operated several successful boardwalk businesses that have become part of the local tradition, allowing us to connect with generations of families who love this town as much as we do. As a Realtor with Goldcoast Sotheby’s International Realty, I’ve helped countless families buy and sell homes right here in Ocean City, combining my love for this community with my professional expertise.
Beyond my career, I’ve been an active volunteer in the Ocean City School District — serving with the PTA, supporting our student-athletes through the sports boosters, and proudly representing my neighborhood as a Republican committee person for my ward. I was honored to receive the Good Neighbor Award from the Ocean City Board of Realtors for my ongoing community service and charitable work, including my leadership of the Ocean City Pink Hair Movement, which benefits the Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club in Linwood.
Family:
My husband and I moved to Ocean City shortly after graduating from Temple University while he was serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. We fell in love with this community and have called it home for nearly three decades. Our son graduated from Ocean City High School in 2023 and now plays Division I lacrosse at Wagner College, and our daughter is currently a student at Ocean City High School.
What drove you to seek public office?
I love this community and believe in the power of our schools to shape strong students and future leaders. As a parent who has seen both of my children thrive in Ocean City Schools, I want to give back by helping ensure every student has the same opportunities for success. I’m passionate about collaboration and transparency — listening to families, teachers, and administrators so we can make thoughtful decisions together.
What sets you apart from other candidates?
I bring a unique blend of business experience, community leadership, and a parent’s perspective. My career in real estate and years of boardwalk business ownership have taught me how to communicate effectively, work with diverse people, and solve problems creatively. I’m approachable, deeply invested in our schools, and committed to fostering positive relationships that support students and educators alike.
What is the most pressing issue facing the Ocean City School District?
Ensuring that every student feels supported academically, socially, and emotionally is vital. We need to balance strong academic programs with opportunities for personal growth, mental health support, and extracurricular involvement. Continuing to attract and retain great teachers while keeping open communication between families and the district is equally important.
If elected, what will your top priority be?
My top priority will be to strengthen the partnership between the schools, families, and the community. By listening and working together, we can support both academic excellence and the overall well-being of every child. I also want to ensure responsible budgeting that prioritizes classroom needs and student experiences.
What is your favorite thing about living in Ocean City?
The sense of community. Ocean City is a place where families support one another, where neighbors become lifelong friends, and where our children grow up surrounded by kindness, opportunity, and pride. It’s a beautiful town built on tradition and heart — and I’m proud to call it home.
