OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City School District and Board of Education have released a community survey as the search for a permanent superintendent in the district continues.

The community survey developed by the board of education will help determine and develop the profile of the district's next superintendent by outlining their desired characteristics.

The Ocean City Board of Education has sought professional search consultant services to conduct a nationwide search for a superintendent.

Consultants have been working closely with search committee members to expand on the recruitment process which includes actively seeking candidates, focus groups, open house forums and an online community survey.

As the board continues to work with consultants on creating the official application, which will be found on the website page once finalized, the survey will help narrow down candidate requirements.

“We understand how important it is to ensure our applicants not only meet our requirements, but also the community's standards. That’s why this survey is so important,” said board member, Cecilia Gallelli-Keyes. “Although community members are not directly choosing the new superintendent, this gives them a voice in the final decision.”

Until a new candidate has been approved, Dr. Thomas Baruffi will sit in as Interim Superintendent. Dr. Baruffi served numerous superintendent roles throughout his educational career, including superintendent of Linwood Public Schools for about eight years.
