Snow Forecast Down to 1 to 2 Inches

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday.

A National Weather Service winter weather advisory will be in effect from 4 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday.

The forecast calls for snow to start late Friday afternoon and continue into the evening, ending by midnight.

NBC40 meteorologist Dan Skeldon, an expert on local conditions for the southern New Jersey shore, predicts "just an inch or two of fluffy snow ... and that's it from this one."

But the weather advisory warns of potentially slick roads for the evening commute.

The National Weather Service calls for a high of 29 degrees on Friday and an 80 percent chance of snow Friday evening.

Skeldon forecasts a cold and dry weekend with temperatures cracking the 32-degree mark for the first time by Sunday, when winds will diminish.

"I still like the idea of a brief thaw for the middle of next week," Skeldon writes. "Two chances to hit 50 ... Tuesday and Wednesday ... with the latter probably seeing some rain."
