Water Company Wraps Up Ocean City Projects

Residents in Ocean City will soon enjoy increased water pressure and improved fire protection as New Jersey American Water wraps up two projects: a 3,000-foot water main installation on Bay Avenue between 12th and 16th streets and the construction of a 2,100-foot pipeline on Bayshore and Pinewood drives.

Along Bay Avenue, the new 12-inch PVC pipe is replacing the existing four-inch, cast iron pipes which are nearly 100 years old, having been installed in 1915. The $500,000 project began in September and will be completed in early November. The work has led to detours on Bay Avenue.

Residential service lines are now being connected to the recently installed eight-inch PVC pipe that has replaced the two-inch and six-inch cast iron mains that have served Bayshore Dr. and Pinewood Dr. since the 1950s. New Jersey American Water has invested more than $480,000 on this water distribution upgrade.

The project is part of New Jersey American Water’s Community Pipeline Revival (CPR) a multimillion dollar program to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that is reaching the end of its problem-free life in more than a 100 communities across the state.
