3 Arrested After Assault, Robbery At Parsippany Hotel: Cops

Argument began after alleged assailant was refused a cigarette, police said.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Three men were arrested and charged with various offenses after allegedly assaulting a man and then robbing him inside a Parsippany hotel, police said.

On Dec. 30 at 10:58 p.m., Parsippany police received a call from a male victim reporting he was the victim of an assault, police said. Officers responded to the scene to speak with the victim, who showed visible injuries to his face and was bleeding.

The victim told police he was in his hotel room and was punched and stomped by Kyle Normandin, 22, of Massachusetts, because he didn’t have a cigarette to give him, police said.

Normandin then fled and returned with Tyler Gammon, 20, of Parsippany, who allegedly stole cash from the victim before the pair fled the area, police said.

While police were on scene it was learned the suspects would likely be returning, police said, and when the vehicle appeared in the parking lot, a traffic stop was initiated.

Gammon and passenger Jomaxy Paulino, 19, of Brooklyn, New York were both arrested and taken to police headquarters. Normandin was not inside the vehicle.

Paulino was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and later released.

Gammon was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft of movable property, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of a hypodermic syringe and given a bail amount of $65,000 with no 10-percent option. He was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility.

An arrest warrant was issued for Normandin, who was found by the Ramapo Police Department in New York on Jan. 8. He was taken into custody by the Parsippany Police Department on Jan. 13 and lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $65,000 bail, no 10-percent option.
