9 Morris County Towns Named Among Safest In New Jersey

Analysis of crime data shows low violence, property crime across the region.

Morris County: rolling hills, beautiful lakes, great wooded areas.

It’s also a low crime area, and new data proves that.

According to an analysis by creditdonkey.com, which ranked the top 50 safest towns in New Jersey, nine Morris County towns made the list thanks to low crime date from the last full year it was reported in 2014.

The analysis was done by looking at four key factors in towns with populations of more than 10,000 residents. They are:

  • Violent crime per 1,000 residents
  • Robbery per 1,000 residents
  • Property crime per 1,000 residents
  • Burglary per 1,000 residents

Those factors were formulated into an overall score, with the lower the mark the better. The eight towns, their ranking, and total score are:

  • Madison, Rank 50, Score 2.366
  • Mount Olive Township, Rank 47, Score 2.258
  • Morris Township, Rank 42, Score 2.145

The website also explained that not all towns submit crime data to the FBI, which is self-reported by each municipality.
