Parsippany Apartment Fire Evacuates Residents, Sends Officer To Hospital: Police

Cause of blaze still under investigation, police report.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – An apartment fire in Parsippany caused an evacuation Wednesday afternoon and sent one police officer to the hospital, police said.

At 1:49 p.m., Parsippany Police received multiple emergency calls for a structure fire at 200 Baldwin Road, Building 7, which is an apartment complex, police said.

All residents were evacuated along with multiple pets, police said. The apartment that was on fire was found to be unoccupied and residents were able to use two buses that were brought to the scene to keep warm.

Residents in surrounding apartments were allowed back into their homes after the fire was extinguished, but the vacant apartment suffered damage. Two residents were treated for smoke inhalation but refused further medical treatment, while one police officer was taken to Saint Clare’s Hospital for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
