“At the beginning of her senior year, she began tough new math courses and found that she needed to buckle down and study harder than ever in order to succeed,” said Scura. “Through hard work, she not only achieved outstanding grades - she found a new favorite class.”

She also discovered an interest in forensics which she plans to study at Montclair State University. The is fascinated by the science, the diversity and the active, fast paced nature of this branch of criminology, as well as the opportunity to help others. She wishes to make an impact in some way, said Maloy.

“I know all of the things I want will only get to me if I work for them,” said Maloy. “I can't sit there and just beg for things to come to me."

Scura said she has no doubt that Margaret Maloy will excel at whatever she puts her mind to.

"This isn't just an award for being a good student,” she said. “This scholarship is my vote of confidence in Maggie's bright future."
