Pit Bull Left For Dead In Freezing Temperatures Outside Parsippany Building

Police are asking for more information, owners to step forward after dog was found leashed to fence Monday.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Police are looking for the owner of a pit bull dog who was left leashed to a fence outside the Parsippany Animal Control and Shelter building Monday morning.

When police conducted a property check of the Parsippany Boulevard building, they found a medium-sized pit bull tied to a fence by a red leash, with a dog toy, bag of food, and two bowls, police said.

The bowl with water inside was frozen solid, police said. The temperature at the time was 23 degrees with a wind chill of seven degrees, police said.

The responding officer put the dog inside his patrol car until Parsippany Animal Control Officers arrived, who then took the animal inside the shelter.

Despite the conditions the animal did not sustain any injuries. Anyone with information regarding the dog’s owner is asked to call the Parsippany Animal Control and Shelter at 973-263-7083.
