PARSIPPANY, NJ — The New Jersey Department of Transportation has once again altered the traffic pattern at Route 46 East at the intersection of North Beverwyck Road.

According to an update from the township police department, the "No U-Turn" sign, which prevented traffic from Route 46 East from making a U-turn onto Route 46 West, has been removed.

Residents spoke out on social media, questioning why the no-U-Turn sign was removed and expressing dissapointment at the change. "I was really hoping it was permanent," one resident wrote. "Darn! I liked it! Sped up the turn lane instead of sitting through 3 cycles of green arrows because of all the slow pokes trying to make a u-turn," another resident wrote on Facebook.

Others, however, claimed that removing the sign was a wise decision because it was being ignored by the majority of motorists.

"People weren't seeing it. Literally about a quarter of the cars in that lane were still doing U-turns regardless of the sign," one resident wrote.

The signal was first added to the roadway back in November due to construction work, which impacted the roadway, the police department said.
