Tax Help Available For Parsippany Seniors, Low-Income Residents

Eleven consecutive Tuesdays will be used for tax aid.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Free tax assistance is being made available by Parsippany Township for senior citizens, low income, or disabled residents this tax season.

Experienced and trained AARP-IRS Tax Aides will be on hand at the Parsippany Community Center for 11 consecutive Tuesdays.

The sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2 and every following Tuesday through April 12.

The Parsippany Community Center is located at 1130 Knoll Road in Lake Hiawatha.

Residents will need:

  • Social Security Card for taxpayer, spouse and dependents
  • Picture ID (such as a valid driver’s license)
  • Cost Basis information for securities sold in 2015
  • Copies of their completed 2014 Federal and State income tax returns
  • All relevant tax forms such as W-2s, Social Security Benefits Statement (SSA-1099), 1099s, 1098s
  • All information concerning all sources of income such as social security, pension, wages, interest, dividends, capital gains, stock sales and their original cost, medical expenses, property taxes, mortgage interest, and charitable contributions.
  • Tenants should know the amount of rent paid in 2015.
  • If you receive the Property Tax Reimbursement booklet (PTR 1 or 2) from the state, bring the Homeowners Verification form to Town Hall Tax Department to be filled out and stamped, then bring the booklet and form with you to your tax appointment.
