26 Teacher, Staff Remote, Leave Requests In Point Pleasant Boro
A number of Point Pleasant Boro teachers and staff have asked for leave or to work remotely as the coronavirus crisis continues.

POINT PLEASANT BORO – A number of Point Pleasant Boro teachers and staff have asked for leave or to work remotely as the coronavirus crisis continues.
Superintendent Vincent S. Smith, speaking during a recent Board of Education meeting, said the district has had 26 requests, and 16 have been approved and two have been denied.
Smith said the district is looking to hire additional people to make up for the staff deficit "right up through the first of the year and beyond."

At the same time, the district continues to look at the remaining leave requests, or listen to teachers' expressed desires to teach remotely. Smith said the district has been approving them.
Smith said teachers and staff have cited medical reasons for not wanting to be in the building.

"We value our staff," he said, "and to replace them would put us at a great disadvantage."
